Visiting Liechtenstein, a tiny yet picturesque country nestled between Switzerland and Austria, is like stepping into a storybook.

With its breathtaking Alpine landscapes, medieval castles and charming villages, this microstate offers a perfect blend of natural beauty and rich history.

We visited the capital city of Vaduz.  This is home to the impressive Vaduz Castle, which overlooks the town from its perch on a hillside.

Art lovers can explore the modern art collection at the Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein, while outdoor enthusiasts can hike through the stunning trails of the Rätikon mountain range.

Liechtenstein is Europes fourth-smallest country and the sixth-smallest country in the world, with an area of just 62 square miles.  Despite its small size, Liechtenstein is a hidden gem in Europe, offering a serene and unique travel experience.

Liechtenstein is one of the wealthiest countries in the world and you could tell – it was spotlessly clean and shiny.  Well worth the visit and another country added to our list.

Hi Mary very impressed with all the research you must have done to find these spectacular places. Each place you have visited on your roadtrip all have their own individual architectural beauty. So different from other parts of parts of Europe I have visited. With the exception of Sighisoara in Romania.

    lots of love Theresa xx

    1. Hi there. Well, we have seen so many beautiful sights, that’s for sure. The Dolomites were well worth the wait, simply stunning but a bit too busy this time of year for our liking. Think May/June or September/October would be the better time, but given our commitments at present, we had to go for this time of year. Amazing though! Yeah, we did a good bit of plotting and planning beforehand, and mostly, we have gotten lucky with where we have landed in terms of the areas. X
