Amsterdam to Vietnam

Amsterdam – Hanoi, Vietnam

So today we left the vibrant City of Amsterdam behind as we continue with our travels to Vietnam.

Why Vietnam?

I have heard that ‘it is a land of staggering natural beauty and cultural complexities, of dynamic megacities and hill-tribe villages, it is both exotic and compelling’.

Vietnam is a large country that is incredibly diverse from chaotic cities and sleepy rural villages to mountains and beaches, palm trees and pines.

We want to immerse ourselves in the rich culture and history as well as picturesque landscapes and the countries natural beauty.

From the green rice fields and mountain areas in the north to the fascinating bustle of the Mekong Delta in the south….there seems to be so much to discover and I want to see it all.

We plan to travel fom the North , to Central then South before departing to Cambodia.

On reading up on Vietnam it had all the off-the-beaten-path experiences we were looking for.

Vietnam is more than just a war memory, it is a country with a long history, ancient traditions, historic attractions, old temples and also it’s natural resources are something to talk about.

And lastly….coffee, coffee, coffee!!

Its the second largest coffee exporter worldwide and boasts an excellent coffee culture.

There is no Costa or Starbucks here with their fraps and latte’s but there is the French drip coffee that can be found in EVERY single street of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City….I have heard it is like no other!

So we departed Amsterdam at 13.35 pm. The flight took approximately 10.5hrs and we have just landed in China, 6am their time. From here we catch a 9.55am flight (China time) to head to Hanio.

On flying in we witness an amazing sunrise…they do say it’s the land of the rising sun after all.

So our southeast Asian exploration is just about to begin on a full night of missing sleep…….
